Waimanalo

North East Oahu consisting of a very diverse neighborhood.. Click here for Quick Facts.

Meet some of Waimanalo's residents!

Waimanalo is to the northwest of Hawaii Kai and southeast of Kailua on Oahu's eastern windward shore.

Waimanalo is home to more than 10,000 residents of many different cultures living side by side. Here you'll find one of the largest Hawaiian populations on Oahu along with Laotian, Filipino, Tongan, and  Caucasian. There are 2,400 housing units and are just as varied: single-family detached homes, townhomes, condominiums, apartments and rent-to-owns plus agricultural and flower farms. You'll find horse facilities and Waimanalo is home to the Honolulu Polo Club & Field.

Land ownership is mixed Fee Simple or Leasehold.

Waimanalo has a very "local" feel. On any weekend one can view the canopies along the park next to Waimanalo Beach and families enjoying the tropical weather. Three and four generations and cousins are playing games, strumming ukuleles and "talking story".  The backyard luau continues to be a tradition here.

Waimanalo's lovely, sandy beach stretches for miles and one of the most breathtaking scenes on Oahu occurs when you drive along Kalanianaole Highway north from Hawaii Kai and reach the overlook near Makapuu Point. Kaupo Bay and Waimanalo Bay stretch out below you with Manana and Kaohikaipu  Islands to your right. Both islands are State Seabird Sanctuaries.

Descending and following the road north you'll pass Sea Life Park and the Oceanic Institute. A little further is Makai Pier where you can see sea turtles in the clear water.

A little further up the road, if you're hungry, don't miss Keneke's Plate Lunch with fish or pork and scoops of rice and 'mac' salad.

Waimanalo has a beautiful 18 hole public golf course at Olomana Golf Links.
